North African Geography is very rich with the hot sun shining, winds blowing, and animals grazing. North Africa also contains some famous land marks like the Nile River, Atlas Mountains and Sahara Dessert. The coast of North Africa has a Mediterranean climate, while the middle of the north has an arid climate.
North Africa consists of Egypt, Western Sahara, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya. The Atlas Mountains lie in Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco. The Atlas Mountains reach an elevation of 13, 671 feet. There are two different types of climates on the mountain. Humid and cold air masses come from the north while the south sends tropical, hot air. The high parts of the mountain receive heavy snowfall, which last 4-5 months and into the summer. The north part of the mountain also receives more rainfall than the north. Another landmark of North Africa is the Sahara Desert. The Sahara Desert lies in the majority of North Africa. It’s size is almost similar to the United States. The Sahara is a subtropical desert which receives very little rainfall. Inside the African continent is also the world’s longest river, with 4,132 miles, The Nile River. The Nile river feeds off the White Nile, the Blue Nile, and Atbara River. It floats into the Mediterranean Sea. The Nile River serves for intensive cultivation and water transportation. With home to the Nile River, the Atlas Mountains, and the Sahara Desert, Africa has many beautiful natural sites.
There are a wide variety of people spread apart in the region. Not many people reside in the desert due to the lack of rain. Many people in Egypt farm throughout the region. There are many irrigation systems from the Nile River and other small rivers. For example, the main crops produced in Algeria is wheat, barley, and potatoes. The Algerian governmental is also responsible for wine cultivation. Fishing is also convenient for Libya due to a large water mass above them. in Morocco they harvest timber from the many tress in the Atlas Mountains. The Western Sahara's Fishing industry provides jobs to at least 2/3 of its population. Tunisia also uses the timber in the land which leads to deforestation. All the countries use the landmarks, the Sahara Desert, Atlas Mountains, and The Nile River.
The major African Landmarks help out the people in many ways. They use their natural resources. The Sahara is rich in oil, minerals like iron ore and phosphate. The Atlas Mountains also provide minerals like iron, mercury, silver and many more. The Nile River provides water transportation and water for farms. All these Major Landmarks help out the people of North Africa.
